AaB: Bringing Digital Transformation to Football Since 2009

A case of transforming traditional ticketing in Danish football.

Pioneering in digital football ticketing solutions. That was the foundation for the innovative partnership between NewC Sport and the Danish football club from the North of Jutland, AaB back in 2009. AaB faced financial challenges as a cause of unlucky sporting performance over a period of time. However, in collaboration with NewC Sport, AaB implemented one of Denmark’s first subscription-based ticketing models. 

In the following years, AaB not only managed to turn the ship around toward a profitable revenue model, but managed to increase season ticket holders by a full 19%. The new ticketing model was centered around maintaining fan loyalty and ensuring financial stability – filling the stadium and increasing the match-day related economy to the largest possible extent. AaB experienced a stronger fanbase than ever – and supporters stuck together through thick and thin. 

Today, AaB is a renowned club for football fans and a proud trademark for the citizens of Aalborg city. Innovative and digital solutions were key successors of setting AaB apart from other football clubs:
