AaB: Bringing Digital Transformation to Football Since 2009

A case of transforming traditional ticketing in Danish football.

Aalborg, Denmark – 2009 – Pioneering in digital football ticketing solutions. That was the foundation for the innovative partnership between NewC Sport and the Danish football club from the North of Jutland, AaB in 2009. AaB faced financial challenges as a cause of unlucky recent sporting performance. However, in collaboration with NewC Sport, AaB became the first club in Denmark to implement the subscription-based ticketing model. 

In the following years, AaB not only managed to turn their revenue model profitable, but also managed to increase the number of season ticket holders by a whole 19%. The new ticketing model was centered around maintaining fan loyalty and ensuring financial stability – filling up stadium and getting the most out of game days. AaB experienced a stronger fanbase than ever – and supporters stuck together through thick and thin.
