How Wycombe Wanderers made football games more accessible with digital advancement

Wycombe has been expanding their fan outreach massively over the past six years, enabling even more supporters to enjoy football games. A subscription-based payment model has slackened financial pressure for supporters, and the club’s customized ticket wallet app ensures easy and seamless access for fans.

High Wycombe, England – 2020 – Most people in the football industry know that season ticket sales are a central factor for sustainable and predictable revenue for football clubs. They provide secure revenue streams that enable financial security for League One and Two clubs under SCMP regulations. However, paying £300-400 in one chunk can be an unviable solution for financially vulnerable supporters that want to come to games.

Together, Wycombe Wanderers and NewC Sport introduced a subscription-based payment system that splits the season ticket price up into 12 monthly payments, easing the financial burden of being a football supporter. Benefits stay the same: loyalty points, access to special offers and benefits, and the access to your preferred seat on the stadium. Not only did we together ease financial burdens for fans: we also created a customized app where Wycombe Wanderers fans store, sell, and buy tickets, as well as access exclusive Wycombe Wanderers content through a single-sign-on solution.

The digital transformation for Wycombe Wanderers has not only contributed to a singular, connected experience at game days with a customized app, closer engagement with fans, and an enhanced understanding of fan segments. The transformation has delivered concrete results. A 26% increase in season ticket holders, and a 65% conversion of singular payment season tickets to the subscription-based payment method. The steady revenue stream from subscriptions allowed the club to invest in player development, state-of-the-art facilities, and community initiatives. Wycombe Wanderers became a sought-after partner for sponsors and partners, showcasing their commitment to fan-centric strategies and innovative thinking.
